Stress...Society is developing fast, in order to catch up with the pace, people have to work hard, students have to study hard. Everybody in their life, will experience stress. However, not everyone of them knows how to cope with it. In the modern society, there is no such thing as a stress-free life. Therefore, despite working people or students, everybody has to learn how to overcome it, and to feel more relaxed.
Most of the time, students are pressurised by their parents/teachers with high expectations, heavy loads of homeworks, exams or relationship problems. Stressed-out child sometimes respond differently. Some might vent their fustrations and anger on others, while some might appear moody. However i disagree that stress should be released through death, by committing suicide. Students are the ones, most likely to seek death once they met up with problems. However, by committing suicide through various ways, are the most silly method to handle with stress. Everyone lives only once, therefore no matter what happens, we have to stay calm and think positively. I agree that as long one thinks positively, stay healthy, and have good relationship with friends or family members, we would not be easily beaten by stress.
To date, there are about 14000 children seen by psychiatrists at the Institute of Mental Health which 2233 were new cases and the rest were follow-ups. It shows that there are increasing numbers of students who faced extreme stress which mainly come from academic workload.
Despite the increasing numbers, there are still several ways of overcoming stress. Firstly, parents have to be supportive of their children, and to stand by them whenever they feel pressurised. Instead of pushing them too much, parents should try to be more understanding, and of course, mutual communication is very important and i feel that family bonding is a crucial factor as well.
Besides,i feel that teachers play an important role in observing whether students are facing tremendous stress. Teachers have to work hand in hand with the parents to provide a more suitable environment for kids so that they can learn more and relax at the same time.
Thirdly, when students are very distressed, they should seek help from the psychiatrist or the counsellor who can encourage and release them from the stress that they could not cope. I feel that managing with your time carefully is also an important factor, as it enables you to complete the workload on time after you planned. A messy timetable will only makes one confused, and nothing would be accomplished on time. It will lead to stress.
In conclusion, part of living in Singapore involves stress, if you overcome stress, you will be able to succeed.

Bird-Flu
Bird-flu...This virus is no longer a stranger to us. Since 1997, bird-flu had started spreading throughout the whole world. Bird-flu is an infection caused by avian influenza viruses and occur among birds naturally. Bird-flu is life threatenind to both birds and humans. Hence, if birds are found carrying this type of virus, they should be immediately sent to be buried properly so as to lower the risks of people infected by the deadly disease.
However, besides disposing them, they should be analysed to find a cure for this disease and also ways to stop it from spreading further. To date, the avian flu had killed about 60 people over the last two years and is increasing rapidly recently. They were usually the ones handling birds or had contact with the birds.
However, what worries the health officials is the chance the virus might mutate which can kill even more people.. Therefore, as precautionary measures, we should disallow the slaughtering of infected birds in the open so as to minimise the spreading of the virus as it can be spread through air. I agree that all the farmers woluld have a part to play in observing the poultry, so that if they are found to have any symptoms of the bird-flu, they should be immediately sent to examined. They should banned farmers if they do not do so.
Lastly, bird-flu can be spread through birds dropping. We may never know if it carrys the virus, hence, we should be more aware when clearing the droppings such as using gloves and disinfecting your hands immediately.. If everyone is willing to play a part in battling with the deadly virus; bird-flu, there will be lesser people getting infected innocently...

The Beijing fieldtrip was fun... But not only fun, i gained more knowledge there. Especially the great wall, it was definitely worth seeing. The scenery was absolutely beautiful although it was tiring to climb all the way up. The students there were also very friendly and kind, who were willing to take us around, exploring their school. At least i have made some new friends there, and i was so touched when i received gift from my new friend.
However the best part of the trip was SHOPPING.. All of us including the boys enjoyed it very much and bought many souvenirs and gifts back for their family. And the guys who were more thick-skinned, managed to bargained alot from the people there, but we were not bad either.
Even when it was the last day of our trip, we were still crazy for shopping and i used up all my money. After this trip, i had learnt more about their culture and many knowlege regarding social studies...
Really did not regret going on this trip....

Castle
A Castle is a luxourious tall building, usually for the rich or royal people to live in, in the past. Although most people like the princess, prince and the king lived in the castle, the witches sometimes gathered in run-down castle for their nefarious plots. Although castles are meant for the rich, it does not mean that it is comfortable living in castles. In my own opinion, i would find a castle to be dull and liveless, where freedom is restricted to the people living inside and many bats flying around!!! In this century, only a few castles are left in the world such as England, which was why many people went to England in order to visit the castles. As most castles have been demolished, the few castles which have remained, are only meant for visiting and not for accomodation. Therefore, if im given a choice, i would really like to visit the beautiful castles but do not wish to live there, because of its poor facilities.

Okie.... Today's topic is about my personal life! Many exciting and interesting events had happened in my life but im going to tell you things that had happened between last year to this year. well, after taking the End-of Year exams last year, the WeAtHeR gErZ took part in the PSC Nite dancing competition.....i think i should skip this as i had said all this in the previous few journals. Time flies so fast that it reached the year 2005 with a blink of an eye and i was totally unprepared to start secondary three school life. But fortunately, i somehow was still okie with the stress that i faced. But i think i slacked alot compared to last year. However, this year would be a totally new, experiencing and busy year for me. I think most probably busy for WeaTheR gErZz, as we have to take part in some perfoming stuffs but it will remain a secret to u guys until the days arrive..... Somemore, WeatHer gErZz would be introducing our very first album very soon, so wait patiently and support ur ok??? And lastly, the last performance that we have on tv was on the advertisement..... Although the scene was quite short, but we felt honoured as the advertisement is asking for dancers to particpate in dancing competition and we were on tv again!!! Anyway, i just hope that this year would go smoothly for WeAtHeR gErZzv regardless when it was in school or when we are performing........
